cPanel Web Hosting Control Panel

One of the most popular web hosting control panels is cPanel. cPanel is also one of the oldest. It provides an interface for management of hosting tasks and it is integrated into server software (web server, FTP, DNS and other) allowing changes to be made instantly. cPanel is easy to manage for both administrators and users.

FTP accounts

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) accounts can be created with cPanel. Restrictions may be added as to what directory can the account have access to, how much can transfer.

Domains

Domains may be added directly into cPanel. It automatically configures everything (creates files/folders, updates hosting dns servers, apache etc) , and all you need to do is setup the nameservers which the hosting company have given to you and you will have your website up as soon as namerservers propagation is done.  Subdomains may also me  created.

File Manager

cPanel have integrated File Manager Tool (AJAX based). It is very powerful, and allows file uploading/downloading, file permissions, zip extract, drag and drop, online editing of files and other stuff.

Databases

cPanel supports MySQL and PostgreSQL database systems. Databases can be created/edited and users can be added to databases. Permissions may also be configured.

Other tools/addons

cPanel have lots of other useful tools including logs and statistics, email configuration, php config and supports addons. One popular addon is Fantastico which allows fast and easy one-click installation of popular web applications (wordpress, joomla, drupal, phpbb) and many others.
